Join us for a very special Old Gold when we honor Chicago royalty, the incomparable DJ Lady D. As "Chicago's House Music Queen," Lady D has been breaking boundaries for women in the music industry & nightlife for over two decades. She will be taking over the decks for Tess at Old Gold October for one-day-only, spinning from her expansive all-vinyl collection playing her legendary house & disco sound with favorite R&B hits in the mix. She'll be joined by Chicago based producer and DJ Samone, a resident of Smart Bar and former founding member of Hugo Ball, among other notable music movements in Chicago. This is a double dose of female DJ power we need in these times!
The collective energy thus far at the Old Gold series has been beautiful. We would like to thank everyone who has blessed the space with positive affirmation, respected people's bodies & boundaries, appreciated the art of vinyl and shown love to the DJs who make us vibrate higher. We hope this special place we create TOGETHER can be a moment of release & restoration for you. Much love & healing to all of you. ♥
"Old Gold: Grown Music for Grown People" takes place the first Sunday of each month through 2018 with host Kristen Kaza and DJ Tess + a rotation of special guests spinning vinyl all day, from Chaka to Sade. A sister party of "Slo 'Mo: Slow Jams for Queer Fam," "Old Gold" invites queer family & allies of all generations, races, identities, and expressions to join in the groove.
Big love to Slo 'Mo fam Chi Nwoso (@lineandletter on IG) for the original artwork! ♥
