Slo ‘Mo is…. MOTHER! Now in our twelfth year, we are honored to be a home for queer and trans family of all ages and walks of life to feel seen and celebrated. The most gratifying feedback we get is how the Slo ‘Mo space helps folks feel loved and cared for, and that’s everything we hope for. This month, we honor the maternal leaders in our community! Joining VITIGRRL is our special guest Sandra Suave, a new mom as well as the resident DJ of BBlyss!, celebrating 19 YEARS of sapphic space making. Matriarchs of Slo ‘Mo Party Mom Kristen (also a new mom of twins!) and Your Godmutha Tristen will greet you as always with enthusiasm and affection. And It Girls Miss Angelíca Grace & Empress Darling Shear will be dancing their hearts out!
Moms: Take your moment. As Slo ‘Mo is the eve of Mother’s Day, we are honoring the queer and trans mothers in our community with complimentary admission and a happy hour just for you. Get your portrait taken and enjoy a complimentary Del Maguey cocktail at the mom-friendly hour of 8pm before the festivities get under way. [NOTE: Comp tix are sold out but you can purchase a regular online ticket and still be admitted to the 8-9pm happy hour to enjoy the company, cocktails and portrait taking. Email slomoparty@gmail.com with your name for attendance so we can note it at the door.]
Tickets are sliding scale in advance $10-20 and $20 at the door, with 5 percent of sales benefiting EveryMom, an organization that provides newborn, postpartum, and nursing essentials to moms in underserved communities. We will also be doing a product drive for EveryMom, so please bring an item or more to contribute:
Cetaphil Baby wash , Bottle Brush , Lanolin Nipple Balm, Baby wipes (any brand; unscented), Always Extra Thick Size 5 Maxi pads, Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment , Board books - ideally ones that are multi-racial or feature animals
Note that sliding scale advance tickets is something we voluntarily offer to empower people to choose a ticket price based on their economic stability. Slo ‘Mo is an entirely queer women & gender expansive team (mom founded!) so please keep in mind that profits are how we are able to support our team and maintain the party every month.
Sleeping Village is an ADA compliant, wheelchair accessible venue. Masks are strongly supported and available at check in, as well as sanitizer. The large outdoor patio allows for taking breaks and space while enjoying the music played in the venue. Limited booths in the bar are reserved for people with mobility needs, people with chronic illness and pregnant people or folks who were recently pregnant. Please email slomoparty@gmail.com to reserve, or if you have any questions or needs. You can see the Sleeping Village FAQ for an expanded description of their policies.
Please take care to note you’re choosing to enter a space with alcohol, dark spaces, tight dance floors, flashing lights & fog, photography documentation and other elements that may impact your experience. We cannot promise safety but do as much as we can within our power in a space we don’t own or make policy for to help you feel comfortable and thought of. We are continually adapting how we enact care and welcome feedback that is collaboratively solutions focused.
