Queer community connection, but make it quarantined! We’re back for our second installment of our digital dance party! During what would be our regular monthly intentional turn up at the Whistler, we are moving the party online so that you can still experience the joy of Slo ‘Mo - from your home-o. The digital dance party will stream live from 8pm-11pm on @slomoparty Instagram or Zoom with VITIGRRL and Audio Jack spinning signature Slo ‘Mo sets featuring R&B, disco, hip hop and house and the Empress Darling Shear leading dance lessons to get your bod moving. To join zoom, use the meeting code 861-7654-3083 and the password queerfam. Here you can see your friends, show off your looks and give a shout in the comment section.
During the live broadcast, you can chime in with requests, share photos and videos of your own living room dance party by tagging @slomoparty and using the hashtag #slomofromhomo . Donations are much appreciated to support our group of DJs, event producers and performers when many our gigs have been canceled due to COVID-19 social distancing. You can venmo @slomoparty or purchase “tickets” here. Once all artists involved are paid, we will make a donation to the Reunion Family Relief Fund, established to support LGBTQ+ & POC artists.
Togetherness is a tenant of Slo ‘Mo’s mission, especially in times of social distress and fear. How do we prioritize our physical health and safety while still supporting our emotional and spiritual need to feel good and connected with each other? This is an experiment we are committed to exploring, because music is not canceled. Dancing is not canceled. Celebration is not canceled. Community is NEVER canceled, in fact - we need it more than ever. We are just pivoting to new ways of doing it. See you on the virtual dance floor!
This is an experiment and therefore continuously evolving! We appreciate your input, support, and advocacy. Spread the word by sharing the Facebook event and flyer, posting to Instagram and sharing photos and videos of your living room turn ups!
